No Coupons
Just wanted to let you know that there will be NO coupon inserts (Smartsource, Red Plum or P&G) in this weekend's papers. This is normal for Holiday weekends. So, no need to buy the Star Tribune just for the coupons.
BUT
Watch for the great sales at places like Kohls and JC Penney!

Easy Deal at Cub this Week!
The 5-packs of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese have a "peelie" coupon on them for a FREE box of Capri Sun! That's a great deal!
PLUS!
If you're so inclined and EAT A LOT of Macaroni & Cheese at your house try out this deal.
Buy 5 5-packs of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and get the FREE 5 packs of Capri Sun. The Capri Sun's will make you eligible for Cub's $4.00 on your next purchase "catalina." So you'll spend $18.45 and get a $4.00 catalina making it $14.45 for the 5-5 packs and 5 boxes of Capris Sun.
(A catalina is the little slip of paper that comes out of the machine by the register. It is the same as CASH!)
PLUS!
If you happen to have the Kraft "Delicious Summer Savings" rebate coupon you can send in your receipt on these items PLUS one more small KRAFT purchase (I will buy the KRAFT BBQ sauce for $.69) and get a $10.00 REBATE.
SO, for $4.45 + .69 = $5.14 I'll get 5 5-packs of Mac & Cheese, 5 boxes of Capri Sun, and 1 BBQ! That's an unbelievable good deal in my book!
It all adds up!

This week at Walgreens
Ok, not too much to report about but these were great deals this week.
2 - U Tampons 18 count - $7.00 less 2 $1.00 coupons less $3.50 in Register Rewards = $2.00
1 - Bag of Potting Soil not pictured - $1.50
2 Packs of Stride Gum - $1.00 less Buy One Get One Free Coupon less Wags $1.00 coupon - $FREE
If you look closely above you'll note a screw up. The cashier did not enter the Walgreens coupon that should have charged me $.99 for the soil. Instead I paid $1.50! DRAT! I hate that. You have to watch closely at all times at check out. All in all I thought $3.50 out of pocket for all of these items was good.

George's Vineyard
I grew up eating the "Greeks" pizza. If you're a Townie, like I am, that's what we grew up on and ohhhhhh the memories. It seemed like every Friday night I was in Bill's Pizza with somebody. We all went there. If we were young it was around 8:00pm if we were older it was more like 1:00am!
These days George's is owned, I believe, by a grandson of Bill. Phil and I were classmates in high school and he and his cousin, Anna, (a cousin? of Phil) always had to work the weekends.
Anyway, did you know there is a coupon on the George's Vineyard website for pizza discounts? Well, check it out next time before you order a pizza and save a little cash.
It all adds up!
Hey! Does anyone out there remember Dino's onion rings?

Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 21
Hey, Folks.
I just learned something new! Ha! I learn something new everyday!
This Friday, May 21st, is Bike to Work Day! It's a national holiday. I'm thinking that biking from Kenyon isn't very doable for me but you may want to consider getting the old bike out and pedaling your way to work or around town on Friday.
Feel Free to Ask
I know that quite a few folks are now reading my blog regularly and just wanted to make sure that you all know I would be glad to help you get started with couponing and deal watching. It has made such a difference for me in these tough economic times.
I have recently been helping a friend get started and the savings for her have been dramatic just in the 3 weeks that I have been working with her. Her family is elated, too!
It all adds up!

Pretty Much Picasso
These are just one of the fabulous new petunia's that are available at garden centers this year. Their name is "Pretty Much Picasso." I picked up 2 baskets of them at Menards on their $4.97 per basket sale last week. The plants are strong and healthy but as you know petunia's need to be dead headed regularly to keep them blooming!
Cardinal Outside My Window
Mrs. Cardinal has made a nest right outside of my bedroom window! The nest is not 3 feet away so I have a very good view but will have to be very careful about opening my blinds and curtains for a while so I don't scare her too much. The one bad thing about this is her take-off path causes her to poop on my new siding. I'll guess I can put up with that to have babies outside my window!

Kraft Foods Freebies
Last Friday I received a goodie box from Kraft Foods. Can't remember what I did to get this fabulous box but I'm sure glad I did. It contained
3 Vanilla Caramel Latte's
3 Mini Packs of Wheat Thins
A coupon for FREE Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs
A coupon for FREE Bull's-Eye BBQ Sauce
and a rebate coupon.
The rebate coupon is good from 5/23/10 until 6/13/10 and if I buy $30 of Kraft products they will send me $10.
So here's the plan, I'll watch sales and coupons for Kraft products in the next few weeks and put together deals where the items total $30 but are much less after coupons. I'm guessing I should be able to put together a deal of 50% - 75% off. Wish me luck!

Good Deal on Mother's Day
My daughter and I were bumming around Faribault on Mother's Day and I snagged a really good deal. They had their outdoor flower bowls for $1.99 discounted from $8.99. Yahoo! I love finding deals like this and the flowers in the bowls are adorable and healthy.
We also stopped in at Donahue's Greenhouse in Faribault. It was fabulous! I spotted at least three new colors for Geraniums and the colors were out of this world. Even if you don't need/want to buy anything at Donahue's stop in and look at all of the color! It's a great place to get ideas too.

Theeeey're Back!
My favorite birds finally visited the yard this weekend - RIGHT ON SCHEDULE - THE Baltimore Oriole! You see, I've been tracking when they first arrive in the yard for 5 years now and it's ALWAYS the 2nd weekend in May. I've had food and drink out for them for about a month now because of the extremely warm weather we had here in Minnesota but never saw any until this weekend. I'm thinking I have 6 coming into the yard. One three-some (which means they are probably still traveling, probably Up North is their destination and won't return after a day or two) and 3 singles. Believe it or not, after a while you can tell them apart! Hopefully more will be coming in during the week. In year's past I have been lucky enough to have up to 9 in the yard at the same time from now until August. They do eat and drink alot. I average an orange a day, a container of grape jelly lasts about 1 1/2 weeks, and 1 package of nectar per week. A SPENDY hobby because the Robins and House Finches also love this stuff too!
And, while I was sitting on my front step on Sunday the cutest little Titmouse landed in my Burning Bush (not 4 feet away from me) and stayed long enough for me to get a nice up-close look! They are soooooo cute!

Mother's Day Weekend
Folks, If you have a little shopping to do this is one of those great weekends to do it! Almost every store has some sort of promotion going that gives a great discount on your purchases. I've received coupons from Herberger's, Kohls, J.C. Penneys, Famous Footwear, Lane Bryant, Maurices, American Eagle, and lots more. Just watch the newspapers and don't forget your coupons when you go shopping this weekend. I hope you snag some good deals!
Ace Hardware Has A Rewards Program
When I was on vacation a while ago most of my time was spent getting my yard ready for the summer. That included feeding my grass, trees and bushes. All of which requires me to purchase the products to do so. As I'm sure you are used to, I scanned the sale circulars and found that Ace Hardware had some really fantastic deals for what I needed. Before shopping I signed up for the Ace Rewards program which gives you points from your purchases. After shopping I sent in all of my rebates which totals $22.00 which should come at any time in the mail. It will be a check and I'm not required to spend the rebate at Ace so I like their rebate program alot! Since then I have received 2 mailings. The first one was a ACE Rewards offer - buy ANYTHING from Ace and get 1,000 reward points. Even if I spend $1.00 I will get these points which will result in Ace sending me a check for $5.00! Now, last night I received a coupon for $5.00 off anything at Ace. So, I'll go on in to my friendly Ace Hardware store and buy something useful (I do need some Grab Grass Preventer) and use my $5.00 gift card. Then in a couple of weeks I'll get a check for $5.00 bucks! My next purchase could be almost FREE! Ace Rewards program ROCKS!
It all adds up!
FREE Coconut Oil On The Way
The hottest cooking oil on the market is Coconut Oil. I was able to snag a FREE 16 oz. jar last week and received notice that it's on its way to my house last night. This jar normally sells for $25! Whoopee! Healthier cooking is on its way! Do you use Coconut Oil? I would like to talk to you about your success with it!

Folks, this is a the largest food drive in the US and I hope that you can find a way to participate. There are more of your neighbors than ever that are in need of help these days.
All you have to do is place non-perishable food items in a paper sack ON SATURDAY, MAY 8TH and leave it by your mailbox and the postal person will pick it up and deliver it to a local food shelf.
Please do not put expired food, glass contained items in your donation.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELPING YOUR NEIGHBOR!
FREE Cami from Lane Bryant
Lane Bryant is giving away FREE Cami's in honor of Mother's Day with coupon. The deal is good until May 10th. I have two of the coupons and would be willing to give someone one of the coupons. If you're planning a shopping trip in the next few days why not grab this cami for yourself, mom, sister or sister in-law?
Lane Bryant usually does the FREE panties coupon deal several times per year so this cami deal is a little extraordinary. It's kind of like the FREE panties deals that Victoria's Secret does every 6 weeks, or so. From the blogs I follow the ladies average 6-8 FREE panties per year from Victoria's Secret. Next time I'm at the mall I'll be signing up for the Victoria's Secret program!

Old Dog, New Trick
I've learned and tested a couple of new ideas out in the past couple of weeks and thought that I'd share my new-found knowledge!
STRAWBERRIES:
When you purchase strawberries take them out of the plastic container immediately and place them in a GLASS dish with glass cover. (I'm using an old pyrex casserole dish I had.) and put a piece of paper towel inside with the berries. The paper towel is just as important as the glass dish. It's unbelieveable how much longer they last!
CELERY:
Tired of wilted celery? Well try this. As soon as you get celery home from the grocery store take it out of the plastic bag and wrap it in TIN FOIL! It'll last you twice as long!
We can always learn something new can't we?

NUTS for Nuts
If you coupon very much you'll begin to notice that there always seems to be $1.00 coupons for Fisher Nuts. Well, hang on to them! These were on sale at Menards last week for $1.68 each so I cruised on in and snagged 6 jars! $4.08 for 6 jars of nuts is a rock bottom price.
In February, I picked them up at Cub for $.59 each after coupon. So keep your eyes peeled as they do go on drastic sale in our area. A great snack item!
Bath Towels
I went to JC Penney this weekend to spend my "$10 off anything over $10 coupon." I cruised the store looking for good deals but didn't have any luck until I stumbled onto the JC Penney bath towel sale. They were on sale for $3.99 each so I picked up 3 towels and only had to pay $.66 EACH! The JC Penney bath towels are my favorite everyday towels. LUCKY ME!
The coupons are good until May 5th and if you aren't going to use yours I'll gladly take it!
Unusual New Neighbor
For about two weeks now I've noticed what I thought was an albino Mourning Dove up on the high wires behind my house. This morning I was able to see it clearly. It was on the ground and sitting still. I immediately knew it was a bird that is not common in our area. It is actually a Turtle Dove - rare to be so far north unless it was a pet. I hope it makes it and joins my regular Mourning Doves as I feed them in my backyard and would be more than glad to help it make it here in Minnesota. You see, it should be in the very southern portions of the USA unless it was a housepet.
