The TracFone card is a set price everywhere so I can't avoid paying the $29.99 anywhere I go BUT I have coupons to double those minutes that TracFone sent me several months ago! All in all, EVERYTHING accept the phone card cost me $.99 before tax!

CAR TIME Does It Again!

Yesterday as I was leaving work my truck made a horrible noise as I turned the corner. I instantly knew that something important was broken! I drove right out to CAR TIME in Dundas and in less that 20 minutes it had been test driven, put up on the hoist, the problem diagnosed, an estimate given, and I had been handed the keys to a loaner car. Who can beat that for service! Wow! I was once again impressed with Jared and the crew. I picked up my truck during my lunch hour today and paid a bill which I thought was fair. I will continue to take my vehicles to CAR TIME!

It's A Great Shopping Week at Cub Foods

Take a really good look at all of the sales in the Cub Foods circular this week. There are a lot of sales which you can add your coupons to to get some excellent prices. Here's what I picked up today including a WHOLE WATERMELON for $3.99 that is NOT PICTURED.

FREE Paint this Week at MENARDS!

Menards is running the FREE paint offer again this week. Be sure to check it out if you have a painting project! Also, I noticed a FAB price ($.99) on garbage bags and I have purchased the Tuff Stuff Multi-Purpose Mats which are on sale for $.99. They are a GREAT mudroom type mat and cheap enough that you don't feel bad throwing it away when it gets damaged or stained.

They are also running a special 3-day 4th of July Sale and in that circular I noticed FREE after $10.00 purchase "Lifetime Caulk Twin Packs." Fall will be here before we know it and you'll need caulk to help seal up the house, AGAIN. It seems like every year a little bit of cauling is necessary. I also noticed a great price on their 10" hanging baskets - $3.88. That's a can't be beat price!

Walgreens this Week!

Some really great deals are available at Walgreens this week and there will be a 3-day circular coming out for the Holiday Weekend, too so be on the lookout for that ad later this week.

I just had a few minutes so cruised in to get the easiest deals for now and will go back later this week, probably on Friday after the Northfield store restocks, to pick up the deals that require coupons.

New Rule at Kwik Trip - ALERT!

I just want to alert everyone about something Kwik Trip has recently begun doing. If you use your debit card to pay, watch out! A hold of up to $75 may be put on your account until the charge is cleared even if you only bought $20.00, or so, in gas! This could cause you to overdraft your bank account if you are running low on money in your account and another debit charge comes through. This hold can remain on your account for several days. There are now stickers located on the gas pumps alerting you of this. I think that I'll start paying by check from now on at Kwik Trip. It's not worth the overdraft fee risk! I'll try and get a photo up of this new sticker so that you can look for it at Kwik Trip or any other gas station that you use.

Great Keebler Toasteds Crackers Coupon

Keep your eyes peeled at the grocery store for great tear-pad coupons. Since they are manufacturer coupons they can be used at any store, not just the one you found them in! I found this one at HyVee in Faribault. It's for $2.00 off on deli meat or cheese when you purchase any ONE package of Carr's crackers or ONE package of Keebler Toasteds crackers. The Keebler Toasteds happened to be ON SALE for $1.99 at HyVee! So I got a box of these great crackers & $2.00 worth of delicious colby jack cheese for $1.99!

Target has been really been hitting it hard in the last couple of months to get more of our grocery dollars. That includes offering up some really good deals with and without coupons and clearance. I found thIS box of Quaker Oaks Instant Oatmeal for $1.34 without coupons. They sure keep the food moving and fresh.

I know that Kohl's seems to constantly have a sale going but at least once a month the sale is a little better than others. This is the weekend. Not only do they have the "Get $10 Kohl's Cash for every $50 you spend" but they have the "15% off Everything" coupon going this weekend, too. Combine those and the sales should be terrific as they want to clear the shelves in preparation for the new school year & fall.

Did you know that there is a Kohl's in Owatonna? It's tucked sort of behind the Walmart Super Center and next to Lowe's. That's the store I go to because it isn't as busy because it's out of the metro but they still have the full selection. I always find fabulous deals that I don't find at the Rochester store at this store.

Toy Story Mini Computer Lamp!

This absolutely adorable mini computer lamp arrived yesterday in the mail for FREE! My daughter has been waiting for this cutsie.

You may have noticed all of the FREE movie passes that are available on cereal. For us it was the Frosted Mini Wheats that we got so cheap a few weeks ago. Well, if you don't want the movie pass there are a bunch of other things that you can get with your movie codes and this computer lamp is one of them.

Make sure and clip the coupon in this week's Cub Foods circular for the 1st pound of grapes FREE! I don't just grab one of those "pre-bagged" ones though. I take a new bag and put enough grapes in the bag to make just a hair over a pound. TIP - Make sure and weigh your bag in the scale. Otherwise the grapes are something like $2.57 per pound which is terribly expensive. I paid $.09 cents for my grapes this week. I'll be making Cashew Chicken Salad this week!

OK, this deal was just too good to pass up. Cub Foods had a great promotion on Conagra products last week that I didn't notice until Friday. I bought 10 jars of Peter Pan peanut butter at $1.49 each, used two $1.00 off 4 coupons, and received a $10 coupon off on my next order. That's right - $.29 per jar! Who can pass up that good of a deal? Not me, I guess. My daughter eats about a jar per week while she's at college (think late night dorm food) and I like it for snacks at work so it will all get eaten!

Cub Foods has started something new recently. Sign up on their website and they are sending out coupons via email every Friday (so far). Today I got one for $2 OFF when I purchase $4 or more of fresh chicken.

Yesterday was a fun mailbox day. I received $22.99 in rebates from purchases I made at ACE Hardware this spring. I'll cash these and add them to my little pile of Rebate/Found Money.

Those rebates really add up. I think my pile is at $345.00 now for the year! It's a great way to save up for something special!

Fishing Weekend

Hey, it's a "Take a Kid Fishing" weekend in Minnesota. Go to the Minnesota DNR website to learn more!

I grew up with parents who were avid at hunting, fishing and archery. I remember when I was very young going camping all of the time at archery tournaments. Dad was always bringing home a fresh trout, there were always fox & mink pelts drying in the basement and a deer hanging in the big elm tree in the back yard. We ate deer all winter long. Today, I can't eat the stuff! We also grew up with Dad's single-shot pistol laying plain as day next to his chair in the living room. None of us ever thought about touching it and the grandkids never did either. I guess it's something you just respect when you grow up in this type of family. We knew that gun was Dad's and it could kill. Not once did I ever touch that gun or have any facination with it. I do not understand it when I hear about kids and gun accidents. To me it is obvious that the parents never taught respect about a weapon and just hid it hoping the kids would never find it. To me you have to be up front and honest when you have dangers in your home. I raised my daughter as a single parent. I trained her from the instant she could understand that when I said "Danger, Stop." She did. Several times I recall saying it and she would stop dead in her tracks and no harm every came to her. She just knew that when I said those words - it was serious. Not once did I ever have to say it twice or run after her.

Anyway, that is not the point of this post. I hope that every kid gets at least a chance to try fishing. My Dad never took me fishing but my Mother did. She took me and Penny Lord down to the dam in Faribault and we went bullhead fishing with bamboo poles! Gosh, that was fun. We brought them home and mom cooked them up for us. I will never forget that day or that delicious meal. It was fun! Every kid should have at least one of those fishing memories.

Time to Stock Up on Aspirin

Well, I've had to begin the daily "baby" aspirin regime since I had my TIA event one month ago, TODAY!

Anyway, Walgreens has a coupon in their circular this week for their small packages of Bayer aspirin for $.99. I had 3 $1.00 coupons from the 3/21 Smartsource so cruised on in and picked up 3 and a bag of M&M's which are on sale this week for $2.49 with a $.50 Register Reward. I ended up paying $1.49 for all of this stuff - 3 Bayer and 1 big bag of M&M's.

I have noticed that Walgreens has been issuing some high-value manufacturer coupons from the Catalina machine at checkout. Last Saturday I received a Duracell coupon for $4.00 off a pack of 8 or more batteries. Lo and behold in this week's Walgreens ad they have 8-packs of Duracell batteries on sale for $5.99 with a $1.00 Register Reward! Well, I went on in and snagged this pack of batteries for $99! Yahoo!!!

Yesterday's mail at home was also very fruitful! I received cigarette coupons AND a FREE full-sized Revlon lipstick from Walgreens for participating in their "Share Your Goal" promotion. It's even a fabulous color! I'm beginning to love checking my mailbox for all of the rebates and freebies!

CAR TIME in Dundas

I have been having my vehicles serviced at Car Time for the last few years and have had great luck and satisfaction with their service. This week my truck needed new rotors on the front end so I called and they could get me in the very next morning. The truck was repaired along with an oil change by noon! I received a Courtesy Car, fast and friendly service including a follow-up phone call the next day to make sure everything was OK and that I was satisfied. That was SUPER customer service!

If you're a J.C. Penney cardholder you have probably received an instant money coupon in the mail for $10 off of $10, or more coupon good from June 6 thru June 20. Don't let it go to waste! Last time I received one of these I picked up 3 of the nice J.C. Penney bath towels for under $1.00 each after coupon!

One of my readers mentioned that they did the same thing last time this was offered. Their son is going to college this fall and she thought it was a great way to set their son up with some nice towels for college. Yahoo! Way to go Kathy!

New Fenceline Garden

Over Memorial Weekend I finally got a chance to start working on the new fenceline garden! It is coming along nicely, especially the hanging baskets on my shepherd's hooks!

Here is a pic of my household cleaning products stockpile. Buying these items when they are dirt cheap saves so much money over time. None of these items have an expiration date.

The key to the sales, discounts, coupons, register rewards, etc. is to buy items that you use regularly when they are dirt cheap or FREE! That way you never have to run to the store and pay full price for that item. It often means buying several of one item at a time when you find a fantastic bargain. Like this week. It has been a stock up week for Listerine. I now have a 6 month supply.

Tomorrow is the first Wednesday of the month so be on the lookout for your Kwik Trip coupons in your newspapers and shoppers. These are great cents-off coupons on gas, car washes, and food items.

Need a basic GAS GRILL?

Hey, folks if you are looking for a basic gas grill I may have the one for you! HyVee in Faribault will be running a deal June 4 thru 6 on a Charbroil 2-burner gas grill for $130 and you'll also get $130 in coupons! I do not know what foods these coupons are for but I would think that they will be similar to the ones they gave when buying a freezer a few months ago. It sounds like a pretty good deal.

I checked out Target for a few minutes last Friday and found lots and lots of clearance items. It's stock up time for Listerine! They had tons of bottles on clearance for $1.98! There are also plenty of coupons in past Smartsource or Red Plum's for $.50 so you should be able to get these for $1.48.
